Stephen Pitjara Martin
Born in 1974, Stephen Pitjara, is the quiet and unassuming nephew of the great Emily Kame Kngwarreye and Kudditji Kngwarreye, whose works have gained international acclaim and been toured widely. Stephen had a traditional upbringing, and learned to paint surrounded by family. His mother was Glory Ngale and his sisters are now also contemporary painters. Drawing inspiration from his land, Stephen paints his stories, passed down from generations of water and land, the bush yam, and his iconic Spirit Man. He lives in Adelaide with his partner, artist Bernadine Kemarre Johnson and continues to develop his style.
