About Us
Milpinti Indigenous Art Gallery exists to promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artists and their stories. It is committed to supporting artists in their arts practices, sharing their stories and celebrating their culture.
In 2023 Alex Romanos took over the role of owner and Gallery manager – as a non-Aboriginal person – Alex has been and continues to be committed to the ongoing lifelong learning of cultural understanding, awareness and education of herself and the collectors, visitors and audiences engaging with Milpinti across Australia and internationally.
The core of Milpinti is respect, relationship and care. It’s purpose is to sustainably, fairly and transparently showcase, celebrate and be an ally alongside the incredible artists and communities they represent and support.
Commissions
Artworks can be commissioned by an individual or corporation for home or workspace. All commissions are arranged through negotiation and therefore provide a great deal of flexibility for artist and client, based on agreed style, time, materials and size.
Exhibit in Your Workplace
A very popular way to support Aboriginal artists – Have a pop up exhibition of original contemporary Aboriginal artwork in your workplace foyer.
Let us bring some joy and start a conversation in your lobby. We bring the paintings and easels to display with information about the artist and the painting for 2 week minimum. Pieces can be displayed for public viewing and available for sale.
Painting Demonstration
Can be done as a standalone event for a birthday, a workplace event or as a unique gift or combined with a pop up exhibit in your school or workplace.
