Otis Napangardi Carter
Ngarrindgeri/ Narungga/Kaurna/Ngadjuri
Otis is a Ngarrindgeri, Narungga, Kaurna and Ngadguri man with a deep connection to the land and various groups all over the continent. Playing all types of sport growing up, Otis spent most of his days in nature. As a young man he went on a journey of self discovery to find his family. It was a difficult but powerful time of growth which enabled him to discover the right path. He travelled to Arnhemland where he saw the yidaki being played. The yidaki (incorrectly referred to as the didgeridoo) is one of the oldest known musical instruments in the world, developed over 40,000 years ago. It is a wind instrument which produces a low frequency sound that you can hear and a vibration you can feel.
